That means there’s a great chance you’ll be hitting the ice with current or future teammates as you gear up for fall tryouts. Need To Know

What?

- Full contact summer hockey league.

- Teams will play 10 games throughout the summer.

- Games will be 72 minutes long.

When & Where?

-Games will be played on Sunday evenings starting at either 6:45pm or 8:25pm at Cadilac Arena, in Walpole Massachusetts.

- Games will be May 25th to August 3rd, with no games July 6th.

- All games will be played on an Olympic sized ice sheet. This will allow players more space on the ice to create plays and get in shape for their fall season.

Who Can Play?

- League is open to College players (NCAA D2/D3, ACHA D1-3, AAU D1-3), recent High School Grads, and Juniors players

Forwards

- 10 Games Guaranteed

- 72min a game with three forward lines on a team, you can expect to play 24+ minutes a game all at 5v5 as penalties are penalty shots.

Rules & Protocols

Game Procedures

  • Games will be two 36-minute run time halves. 
  • Warmups will be 6 minutes long. 
  • There will be 3 minutes in between periods.  
  • Teams will be allowed to warm up their goalie in between periods using no more than 6 pucks and two shooters.  
  • If the game is within 3 goals with under 2 minutes remaining in the game the clock will stop on whistles. 
  • Each game will consist of two referees.  

Rules

  • Standard NCAA rules will apply with a couple exceptions.  
  • The following changes will be in place,  
  • Teams will be permitted to change on Icings.  
  • Teams will be permitted to change if the puck leaves the ice surface and becomes out of play. 
  • Teams will be permitted to change if their net becomes knocked off in the D-Zone. However, if deemed intentional that will result in a penalty. 
  • Please see “Penalties” Section below to see rule changes to penalties. 
  • This is a full contact league.  
  • In the event regulation ends in a tie teams will partake in a 3 round shootout to determine the winner.   

Penalties

  • All penalties will be served with penalty shots. This is to ensure players can maximize their minutes in 5v5 situations.  
  • When there is a penalty shot the game clock will be stopped.  
  • If a penalty shot is to occur, the penalty shot has to be conducted by one of the players currently on the ice unless it is a major penalty. 
  • A player who conducts the penalty cannot be on the ice for the following faceoff regardless of the outcome of the penalty shot. Remaining on the ice will result in another penalty shot being awarded.  
  • Double minors and Major penalties will result in 2 penalty shots to be awarded which can be conducted by the same player each time.  
  • A major penalty will allow any player on the team who drew the penalty to take the shot, this player is allowed to take both penalty shots.

Rosters

  • Teams will consist of the following, 
  • 9 Forwards 
  • 6 Defensemen 
  • 2 Goalies 

Games / Schedule

  • The league will consist of 4 teams.  
  • Teams will play a 9-game regular season where you will play each team three times.  
  • The 10th and final week will be a championship game seeing the 1st seeded team playing the 2nd seeded team for the championship. The 3rd and 4th seeded teams will play in a consolation game this week to ensure each team plays a full 10 game season.  

Playoff Tie Breakers

  • In the event there are two-teams with the same number of points at the end of the season the following tie breakers will apply,  
  • Head-to-Head matchup – Winner of the season series will advance  
  • If there are multiple teams tied with the same number of points at the end of the season the following tie breakers will apply,  
  1. Regulation Wins (Highest Win Total Proceeds) 
  2. Goal Differential (Highest Number Proceeds) 
  3. Penalty Shot Conversions (Highest Percentage Proceeds) 
  4. Penalties Taken (Lowest Number Proceeds) 

Drugs & Alcohol Policy

  • Stone Hands Hockey has a zero tolerance for Drugs and Alcohol.  
  • If a player is deemed to be under the influence of Drugs and Alcohol during game play, they will be removed from the league and banned for life.  
  • No refunds will be issued if a violation is committed. 

Fighting Policy

  • There will be zero tolerance for fighting. If a player engages in a fight they will receive an automatic suspension for the following game.  
  • If a player is assessed 2 fighting majors in the same season they will be suspended for the rest of the season. No refunds will be issued. Admission into the league for the following season will be at the Commissioners digression.   
  • If a third fighting major is accessed the following season the player will be removed from the league and handed a lifetime ban.  

Abuse of Officials Policy

  • Players are to respect all officials and abide by all rules and calls on the ice. Under no circumstances are players allowed to physically or verbally abuse an official if it is found a player has violated these terms and an official may remove them from the game and assess any necessary penalties.  
  • Additional action may be taken by the league which could result in suspension or removal from the league.  

Refunds

  • If a player is removed from the league for violations or conduct, there will not be a refund issued. However, the league will entertain all appeal requests and make judgement on a case-by-case basis, but no refund is guaranteed.
